Lanus – Rosario Central
Lanús showed some promising signs in their return to league action, but came away empty-handed after a 1-0 defeat away to Deportivo Riestra last Monday. El Granate are now winless in their last three league matches (one draw and two losses in regular time) and remain far from the fight for international qualification. On a more positive note, Lanús are unbeaten in their last six home league matches, with three wins and three draws. Rosario Central couldn’t fully celebrate Ángel Di María’s homecoming, as the star forward scored but the team conceded a dramatic 95th-minute equalizer in a 1-1 draw with Godoy Cruz. With that result, El Canalla earned their first point of the Torneo Clausura and remained in Copa Libertadores qualifying position on the aggregate table, having lost just one of their last 11 league matches (six wins and four draws). Central have also been fairly solid away from home, picking up 14 points from a possible 27 on the road so far this season. Facundo Mallo and Jaminton Campaz will miss out injured. I expect Rosario Central not to lose here as they keep improving with Angel Di Maria on the team. Lanus was nothing special in the defeat at Riestra in the first round and should struggle as well against a better team.
