Gimnasia vs Independiente
Gimnasia LP earned a very valuable result last weekend, especially considering their poor performance. The fortunate 0-0 draw away to San Lorenzo marked Alejandro Orfila’s team’s first point in the Torneo Clausura, and helped them remain one point above the relegation zone — despite having won just one of their last 11 league matches, alongside four draws and six defeats. At home, Gimnasia have picked up only one win in their last six matches, with three draws and two losses. Bautista Merlini and Alejandro Piedrahita remain sidelined due to injury. Independiente missed a big opportunity last Sunday, putting in a poor performance in a 2-1 home loss to relegation-threatened Talleres. El Rojo have collected just one point in the Torneo Clausura and are now winless in their last three league matches (two regular-time draws and one defeat), staying fourcpoints behind the Copa Libertadores qualification zone. They’ve also won just one of their last five league matches on the road, with two draws and two losses in that span. Gimnasia are arguably one of the worst teams in the league. They were lucky not to lose at San Lorenzo and to make things worse they are missing at least 4 different starters due to injuries. Independiente didn’t deserve to lose against Talleres, and I expect them to bounce back and get a win here.
