Tigre vs Estudiantes
Tigre delivered a convincing performance last Monday but lacked finishing touch, ultimately drawing 0-0 away to Belgrano. However, that result extended their unbeaten run in the league to seven matches (two wins and five draws) and kept them in the Group A playoff spots with 19 points. El Matador also remain in position for a Copa Sudamericana berth via the aggregate table for now. Tigre have been inconsistent at home this semester, with two wins, four draws, and one loss.
Estudiantes suffered a tough blow last weekend, losing 2-1 at home to Boca Juniors in heartbreaking fashion after conceding the decisive goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time. El Pincha saw their five-game unbeaten league run (two wins and three draws) come to an end. Although they remain in the playoff zone in Group A (with 21 points), the team hurt their chances of reaching a Copa Sudamericana spot in the aggregate table (now they need to win both remaining matches and wait). Moreover, Estudiantes have collected only two of the last 12 points available away from home in this Torneo Clausura.
A draw might not be enough for Tigre to make it to the top 8 with only 2 games left so I expect them to take risks and that’s dangerous against a team like Estudiantes who has scored at least once in their last 9 games, so I’ll go for the OVER here.
