Sarmiento vs Platense
Sarmiento achieved their best result of the season last Monday, when they defeated reigning league champions Vélez Sarsfield 1-0 thanks to Franco Frías’ 71st-minute goal. That win ended a six-game winless run in the league (five draws and one loss) and lifted them to 13 points — five clear of their last opponent, who sit in the relegation zone. At home, Sarmiento are unbeaten in eight league matches, with two wins and six draws. Juan Insaurralde is suspended after reaching the yellow card limit, while Renzo Orihuela is available again after serving a suspension. Platense earned a valuable point last Tuesday, drawing 0-0 at home in a dull match against Rosario Central, one of the top teams in the league. With just one defeat in their last five league matches (two wins and two draws), El Calamar remain inside the playoff zone in Group B with 17 points. However, they have lost three of their last five league games on the road, winning one and drawing one. Huge game for both as they are fighting for the last playoff spots of Group B, with Platense occupying the 7th place and Sarmiento in 11th but only 1 point behind the last playoff spot. The hosts are in a great run, Platense are doing well but they’ve been poor away, so at these odds the hosts are value not to lose.
