Deportivo Riestra – San Martin de San Juan
Deportivo Riestra started 2025 in the best way possible: with a solid defensive performance and great efficiency, they defeated Lanús 2-0 away from home with goals from Jonathan Herrera and Gabriel Obredor, securing their first three points in Group B. This win broke a negative run of nine league games without victories (eight draws and one loss). Cristian Fabbiani’s side has been strong at home lately: Riestra haven’t lost any of their last 12 matches at Estadio Guillermo Laza, winning seven and drawing five. All starters are available for Tuesday’s match. San Martín SJ faced a major disappointment in their return to the top division after five seasons. Despite signing 18 new players, El Verdinegro fielded nearly the same lineup as in the promotion final and suffered a tough 1-0 defeat at home to Atlético Tucuman, ending their two-match winning league run (two wins and one draw). Riestra had a strong start of the season with a win at Lanus and considering how crazy is their undefeated run at home, I feel this odds are way too high considering San Martin was just promoted and might need to some time adapt to the new category.
