Rosario Central – Lanus
After a disappointing 2024, Rosario Central showed clear signs of improvement in their Torneo Apertura debut, defeating Godoy Cruz 3-0 away at Gimnasia Mendoza to secure their first three points in Group B. Enzo Copetti, Ignacio Malcorra, and Jaminton Campaz were the scorers. This marked El Canalla’s second consecutive league victory, including a 2-1 home win over Belgrano, which ended a four-match winless streak at Estadio Gigante de Arroyito (one draw and three losses). Lanus fans must have been disappointed with their team’s poor start to the Torneo Apertura: they lost 2-0 at home to Deportivo Riestra in the debut match of their coach Mauricio Pellegrino, despite dominating the game and creating the better chances. This result ended their eight-match unbeaten streak in the league (four wins and four draws). On the road, Lanus remained unbeaten in their last four away games in this competition, with two wins and two draws. Winger Dylan Aquino could return on Tuesday after missing the opener due to a muscular issue. Plenty of good attacking players in both teams: Rosario Central comes from scoring three, one by each of their three attackers, Lanus conceded twice but still a team with players like Walter Bou and Marcelino Moreno are always dangerous, so this totals line looks way too low.
