San Martin vs Talleres

San Martín SJ couldn’t hold onto their lead and had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Sarmiento away from home in an intense six-point relegation battle. The team remain winless in their return to the top division, collecting three points in four matches from three draws and one loss. On a positive note, El Verdinegro have lost just one of their last five home matches, with two wins and two draws in that span. Head coach Raúl Antuña has his full squad available for Thursday’s match.

Once again, Talleres ended up with less than they deserved last Sunday. The unfair 1-0 defeat at home against Lanús leaves them still without points in three matches (with one game in hand). In fact, they have now suffered four consecutive league defeats since their 1-0 away win over Gimnasia LP in December. Moreover, Alexander Medina’s team lost 1-0 against San Lorenzo in their last away match, snapping a four-game unbeaten streak on the road (three wins and one draw).

Talleres are one of the biggest surprises this season but because of the wrong reasons: they still have no points after losing 3 games (the 4th one was suspended at halftime). San Martin’s return to 1st division hasn’t been what they would have liked but at least they have 3 points after 3 draws. Talleres should start getting points soon because they definitely have a very good squad, but I prefer to take the low totals line here because they will have to take risks at some point.
