Talleres vs Atletico Tucuman
After several undeserved defeats, Talleres finally secured their first victory of the year last Thursday, defeating San Martín SJ 1-0 away, with a goal from Gaston Benavidez in the 64th minute. With this result, El Matador earned their first three points in four matches in 2025 (with one game pending) and ended a streak of four consecutive league losses, including last season. However, Talleres have lost their last three home games.
Lucas Pusineri’s second stint as Atletico Tucuman’s head coach could not have started any better. The team delivered an outstanding performance, thrashing Sarmiento 5-0 at home, thus ending a worrying streak of three consecutive defeats. El Decano reached six points in five rounds of the Torneo Apertura, just one point below the last playoff spot in Group B. On the downside, Atletico lost eight of their last 11 away matches, managing only one win and two draws in that span.
The last 3 Atletico Tucuman games have been goal fests: they scored 5 vs Sarmiento after the coach change, but also conceded 3 against Rosario Central and Deportivo Riestra. Talleres finally won a game after some poor results, they should be more relieved and I can’t imagine them losing at home a 4th game in a row, but I’ll go for the OVER here as a I expect an open game where both teams can score.
