Deportivo Riestra vs Talleres
Deportivo Riestra let an incredible match slip away last Monday when they conceded two careless penalties and ended up losing 2-1 in their visit to Sarmiento, despite leading until the 84th minute. After the game, coach Cristian Fabbiani left the club to join Newell’s Old Boys. With this result, El Malevo are now three matches without a win in the Torneo Apertura (two draws and one loss) but remain with nine points, still within the playoff zone in Group B. However, Riestra are strong at home, having gone 15 matches unbeaten in their stadium (seven wins and eight draws). Gustavo Benitez will take over as interim boss on Friday.
Once again, Talleres dominated but failed to reflect it in the result last Sunday. Their undeserved 1-1 draw at home against Atletico Tucuman leaves them with only four points from one win, one draw, and three losses (with one match pending), despite displaying promising moments of football this year. On the bright side, Talleres lost just one of their last six away matches, winning four and drawing one.
Deportivo Riestra lost their coach despite the great results they had since last year because he decided to leave and join Newell’s and this news hit them hard as they lost against Sarmiento conceding two penalties in the last 10 minutes. Talleres has way less points than deserved because they’ve played well lately and I’ll trust them here to win against this Riestra that could be disoriented after unexpectedly losing their coach.
