Rosario Central vs Sarmiento
Rosario Central once again proved their dominance over their arch-rivals last Sunday, securing a 2-1 away victory against Newell’s Old Boys with goals from Gaspar Duarte and Jaminton Campaz. Thanks to this impressive win, El Canalla now stand at the top of Group B with 14 points (alongside San Lorenzo) and extended their unbeaten league run to seven matches (five wins and two draws). At home, Central won three consecutive matches. However, Facundo Mallo sustained a muscle injury in the derby and will miss several games. Juan Cruz Komar will replace him in the only expected change.
Sarmiento finally celebrated their first victory of the year last Monday when they narrowly defeated Deportivo Riestra 2-1 at home, thanks to two penalties converted by Gabriel Carabajal in the final ten minutes of the match. With this win, they reached five points in the Torneo Apertura and ended an eight-game winless streak in the league (four draws and four losses), keeping their hopes alive in the tough battle to avoid relegation. On the other hand, Sarmiento haven’t won away from home since last June—a streak of 14 matches, with four draws and ten losses.
I have to trust the Group B leaders here at these odds. Despite last week’s win, Sarmiento is still one of the worst teams in the league, especially when playing away and Rosario Central should beat them.
