Talleres vs Tigre
Talleres continue to show promising performances without translating them into results. Last weekend, the team had to settle for an undeserved 0-0 draw away against Deportivo Riestra despite creating the best goal-scoring chances in the match. As a result, La T remain with just one victory so far in 2025 (along with two draws, three defeats, and one game in hand), leaving them outside the playoff zone in Group B with five points. Additionally, Alexander Medina’s team earned only one point from the last 12 available at home. Left-back Miguel Navarro was sent off in the last match and must serve a one-game suspension. Coach Alexander Medina would pick an alternative XI ahead of next Wednesday’s Supercopa Internacional clash against River Plate.
Tigre is experiencing a great run of form. Last Monday, the team put in a solid performance and deservedly defeated Banfield 1-0 at home. This marked their third consecutive league victory and fourth win in their last five matches (with one loss). As a result, Diego Dabove’s squad has reached the top of Group A, tied with Argentinos Juniors and Estudiantes, at 15 points.
Tigre has been one of the surprises of this season so far and I expect them to at least avoid a defeat against this disappointing Talleres that will use a mixed lineup because next Wednesday they play a 2024 season final against River.
