Barracas Central vs Godoy Cruz
Barracas Central continue to improve with each matchday. Last Monday, the team delivered a strong performance, securing a 2-0 home victory over Newell’s Old Boys, with goals from Jhonatan Candia and Manuel Duarte. El Guapo now extended their unbeaten streak to six league matches (three wins and three draws), accumulating 12 points and securing a spot in the Group A playoff zone. In fact, the team has earned seven of the last nine available points at their temporary home in Sarandí Arsenal.
Godoy Cruz are still struggling to find consistency in 2025. In their last match, El Tomba managed only a 1-1 home draw against Platense in an intense game that marked the debut of new head coach Esteban Solari. As a result, the team won just one of their six matches in the Torneo Apertura (along with three draws, two losses, and one match pending), leaving them with only three points (after being deducted three due to incidents in Matchday 3 against Talleres). On the road this year, Godoy Cruz have one win, one draw, and one loss.
Godoy Cruz has been just terrible this season and to make things worse, last Thursday they lost 1-0 against a third tier club, Excursionistas, and were eliminated of Copa Argentina. Barracas are at least more solid and should be able to avoid a defeat at home.
