Atletico Tucuman vs Newell’s Old Boys
Atlético Tucumán took their first setback under Lucas Pusineri’s second tenure, suffering an unexpected but deserved 1-0 home defeat against Gimnasia LP. This loss pushed El Decano out of the playoff zone in Group A, as they remain on seven points from seven matches. The team struggled for consistency, winning just one of their last six league games (one draw and four losses). At home, Atlético have picked up three points out of nine (one win, two losses).
Coach Cristian Fabbiani did not have a happy debut at Newell’s Old Boys: while the team showed some improvement, they ended up losing 2-0 away to Barracas Central in a controversial match. This marked La Lepra’s fourth consecutive league defeat, leaving them with only three points in seven Apertura matches (one win and six losses). In fact, Newell’s have yet to earn a point or score a goal in three away games in 2025. On a positive note, all first-team players are available for their trip to Tucumán on Monday.
Newell’s are probably the worst team in the league but they should improve under their new coach who is coming from having a very good season with Deportivo Riestra. Atletico are a better team but way too irregular to trust them, so I’ll go for the OVER because they have two of the worst defenses in the league with 10 and 11 goals conceded respectively in 7 games.
