Banfield vs Argentinos Jrs
Banfield played well in Matchday 8 but couldn’t translate it into a victory, drawing 0-0 against Independiente at home in a match that started on Sunday and ended on Tuesday due to heavy rain. With this result, El Taladro extended their winless streak to six games (two draws and four losses), leaving them with eight points in the Torneo Apertura, sitting four points below the last playoff spot in Group A. At home, Banfield struggled recently, collecting just two of the last nine points available. Joaquín Pombo and Gerónimo Rivera suffered injuries in the last match and will be unavailable on Friday.
Argentinos Juniors keeps improving match by match and asserting themselves as the best team in the league. Last Sunday, El Bicho put on a great display to defeat Instituto 2-0 at home, with goals from Alan Rodríguez and Tomás Molina. Nicolás Diez’s team remain at the top of Group A with 18 points (tied with Tigre and Estudiantes) and extended their unbeaten streak to 10 league matches (six wins and four draws). Four of those games were played away from home, where Argentinos secured two wins and two draws.
Argentinos are still undefeated after 8 rounds and playing some high level football. They will visit a very poor Banfield that will have some missings due to injuries, including once again striker Tomas Nasif who scored 3 of the very few 5 goals they have this season, so I have to trust the visitors to continue like this.
