Sarmiento vs Talleres
Sarmiento let a much-needed victory slip away in incredible fashion last Saturday: after dominating the match, they conceded a 97th-minute goal and had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Barracas Central at home. As a result, Javier Sanguinetti’s team are now winless in three league matches (two draws and one loss) and sit at seven points after nine rounds of the Torneo Apertura, just two above the relegation zone in the aggregate table. On a positive note, Sarmiento are unbeaten in their last six home matches, winning two and drawing four. Juan Manuel Insaurralde is set to return after serving a two-match suspension.
Talleres remain far from their best form. Last Monday, the team delivered a poor performance, settling for a goalless home draw against Rosario Central, a team that were leading Group B at the time. The last Liga Profesional runners-up are now experiencing a disappointing campaign, going four matches without a win (three draws and one loss). Talleres collected only six points in the Torneo Apertura (with one game in hand) and sits just one point above the relegation zone in the accumulated table. In 2025, Talleres earned four out of nine possible points on the road (one win, one draw, and one loss).
Talleres comes from three consecutive scoreless draws and only one goal scored in the last five. Sarmiento will be happy with at least a draw at home where they’ve been decent lately, so I expect nothing but a tight game here.
