San Martin de San Juan vs Platense
San Martín SJ come off an undeserved defeat in Matchday 8: they put in a solid performance on their visit to Vélez Sarsfield, but conceded a goal in the 80th minute and ended up losing 1-0. With this result, the team remain at six points in nine rounds, having recorded one win, three draws, and five losses. They now sit just one point above the relegation zone in the accumulated standings.
Platense are experiencing a decline in form. In their last league match, the team were outplayed by Lanus and were fortunate to secure a goalless draw at home. As a result, El Calamar have gone five consecutive matches without a win in the Torneo Apertura (three draws and two losses in that span). However, it is still enough to remain in the playoff zone in Group B, with 10 points. In fact, Platense have picked up just one point from their last nine available on the road.
San Martin are finally improving and I’ll trust them here against Platense who couldn’t score in their last two league games.
