Banfield – Aldosivi
Banfield put in a commendable effort in their visit to River Plate last Thursday, but they were outplayed in the second half and ultimately fell to a deserved 3–1 defeat. This marked their third loss in four league matches for Pedro Troglio’s side — along with just one victory in that span. As a result, they have collected seven points from the same number of fixtures in the Torneo Apertura and remain in 26th place in the relegation averages table. At home, Banfield have recorded two wins, one draw and one defeat so far this season. Aldosivi continue to endure a difficult start to the year. Last Sunday, the team were outplayed and suffered another defeat, losing 1–0 in their visit to Unión Santa Fe in a largely lackluster match dominated by the home side. As a result, El Tiburón remain without a league win in 2026 and has accumulated only three points in the Torneo Apertura — three draws and three losses. With one match pending (suspended last midweek due to Argentinos Juniors’ international commitments), the team sit second from bottom in the annual standings and also in the point-average table. Aldosivi lost all three of their away matches so far this season. Aldosivi are clearly one of the worst teams in the league and while Banfield have been irregular, at home they’ve been good lately and they should take this 3 very important points for the relegation table.
