Argentinos Jrs – Rosario Central
A late goal from Ryuoga Kida in the 90th minute allowed Argentinos Juniors to avoid defeat in their most recent league match, as they drew 1–1 at home against Barracas Central. El Bicho have been going through an inconsistent spell in the league, winning just one of their last five matches —along with three draws and one defeat— and they now sit on nine points in the Torneo Apertura, outside the playoff qualification places in Group B, although they still have two games in hand. On a more positive note, they extended their unbeaten home run in domestic competitions to 16 matches, recording 11 wins and five draws during that stretch. Rosario Central stayed true to their strong tradition in recent years and claimed the city derby in Matchday 8, defeating archrivals Newell’s Old Boys 2–0 thanks to second-half goals from Ángel Di María and Enzo Copetti. El Canalla climbed to fourth place in Group B with 14 points after losing just one of their last seven league matches —along with four wins and two draws. In fact, Central have been the league’s best away side so far, collecting ten points from the 12 available through three victories and one draw. Two key missings for Rosario Central: legend Angel Di Maria and key midfielder Franco Ibarra so even though Argentinos Jrs has been too irregular I expect them to take the 3 points at their stadium and extend their impressive undefeated home streak.
