Argentine Primera Division: Lanus – Newell’s Odds for March 17, 2026

Lanus – Newell’s

Lanús returned to winning ways on Friday night with a hard-fought 1–0 victory away to Estudiantes de La Plata, thanks to a goal from Dylan Aquino in the 75th minute. With that result, the team coached by Mauricio Pellegrino ended a run of five league matches without a win —three draws and two defeats— and reached 12 points, just one behind the playoff places in Group A with a game still in hand. At home, Lanús have recorded one win, one draw and one defeat so far in the Torneo Apertura. Newell’s Old Boys continue to endure a nightmare in 2026. On Tuesday night, the team came close to securing their first win of the year but ended up drawing 1–1 at home against Platense after conceding an equalizer just seven minutes from time. La Lepra remain at the bottom of the overall standings with only three points from a possible 27 and have now extended their winless run in league play to ten matches —three draws and seven defeats. Away from home, they have collected just one point from the 12 available so far this season. Even though Lanus won’t have playmaker Marcelino Moreno they should have more than enough to beat this terrible Newell’s who won’t have their starting goalkeeper as well as two of the few attacking players they have, Coccaro and Hoyos.
