Estudiantes had to work harder than expected but secured their first win in this Copa Libertadores edition two weeks ago, defeating Cusco FC 2–1 at home with goals from Facundo Farías and Tiago Palacios. As a result, El Pincha sit second in Group A with four points from two matches. They are also leaders of Group A in the Argentine Torneo Apertura after a 0–0 home draw against Talleres last Saturday afternoon. Alexander Medina’s side are on a five-match unbeaten run (three wins and two draws). At their stadium, they are unbeaten in four matches (three wins and one draw). CR Flamengo, the defending Copa Libertadores champions, are not encountering difficulties in their title defense so far. On Matchday 2, they comfortably defeated Independiente Medellín 4–1 at home to make it six points from six and take the lead in Group A. On Saturday, O Rubro Negro thrashed Atlético Mineiro 4–0 away and remain second in the Brasileirao with 26 points from 12 matches, six behind leaders SE Palmeiras but with a game in hand. Leonardo Jardim’s side are on a seven-match winning streak across all competitions, three of them away. Léo Pereira, Lucas Paquetá, and Erick Pulgar will miss Wednesday’s match due to different injuries. I’ll go for the OVER here as these are two tough teams with very good attacking power. Estudiantes at home will score, Flamengo is probably the best team in this competition despite missing veteran Lucas Paqueta, so 2 goals have to be definitely possible.
