Talleres vs Lanus

Talleres bounced back emphatically after a difficult start to the semester and to head coach Jorge Sampaoli’s tenure. On Monday night, La T produced an almost perfect performance to thrash Platense 4-0 away, picking up their first three points in the Torneo Clausura and ending a five-match winless run in the league (two draws and three defeats). As a result, Talleres moved to within one point of the last Copa Sudamericana qualification place in the overall standings. Diego Valoyes remains their only significant absentee because of a knee injury. Coach Jorge Sampaoli would repeat the XI. Lanus produced a poor performance and lost 2-1 away to Unión Santa Fe. This was their second consecutive league defeat, leaving them on three points in the Torneo Clausura, while it was also their fourth loss in the last seven matches in the competition (one win and two draws). That run leaves them three points below the Copa Sudamericana qualification places in the overall standings. In fact, Lanús have lost their last four away matches in domestic competitions. Agustín Medina suffered a muscle problem in the last match and will not be available on Tuesday, joining Marcelino Moreno and José Canale on the sidelines. Lanus keeps struggling and will have to visit a more confident Talleres that finally won their first game in a very solid performance at Platense, so I expect the hosts to continue with their recent good form and take a win at home.
