Montevideo City Torque (Uruguay) – Tigre (Argentina)
Montevideo City Torque claimed a valuable 1–0 away victory over Club Atlético Tigre last Tuesday, with Franco Pizzichillo scoring in the 53rd minute. A draw in the second leg would be enough to send Los Ciudadanos into the Copa Sudamericana quarter-finals for the first time in their history. On Saturday, Torque defeated Juventud de Las Piedras 1–0 away in their Torneo Clausura opener, taking them to three points with a game in hand. The victory also moved them up to fifth in the annual Liga AUF Uruguaya standings. Torque have won four of their last five matches across all competitions, with one defeat. Tigre have a difficult task ahead after a poor performance and a 1–0 home defeat to Montevideo City Torque last Wednesday. They must win in Montevideo to keep their hopes alive. On the positive side, that was their only defeat in their last five matches across all competitions (two wins and two draws). On Saturday, Diego Dabove fielded a completely alternative lineup that drew 0–0 away to Aldosivi. The result took Tigre to eight points from five Torneo Clausura matches, enough to put them in the playoff qualification places in Group A. Tigre didn’t deserve to lose last week at home in the 1st leg and they should have a good result if they play again like that but they can be more effective in attack. They will have to take risks so I’ll take the OVER as I can expect another open game.
