Aldosivi vs Independiente Rivadavia
Aldosivi delivered a strong performance in their last league match but were unlucky, suffering an undeserved 1-0 defeat away to Racing Club. That result ended their brief two-game winning streak and left them bottom of Group B with nine points. More importantly, El Tiburón missed the chance to climb out of the relegation zone — they are now three points behind Talleres and Godoy Cruz in the aggregate table. At home, Aldosivi have earned six points from as many matches in the Torneo Clausura, with one win, three draws, and two losses.
Independiente Rivadavia are going through a rough spell in the league. Two weeks ago, they played poorly and suffered a surprising 2-1 home defeat to Banfield, who were fighting to avoid relegation. La Lepra are now winless in six Torneo Clausura matches (four draws and two losses), a run that has left them far from both the playoff spots in Group A (on 12 points) and the Copa Sudamericana qualification places in the aggregate table, though they still have a mathematical chance to reach either goal. Away from home, Independiente haven’t won in five (three draws and two defeats). Matías Fernández is suspended after receiving his fifth yellow card, while Tomás Bottari will serve the second match of his ban. Last weekend, the team advanced to the Copa Argentina final by beating River Plate on penalties (after a 0-0 draw).
Independiente Rivadavia are a few days away from their most important game ever as next Wednesday will play the Copa Argentina final against Argentinos Jrs and they could win their first ever top tier trophy, and play Copa Libertadores for the first time, so they are expected to use a lineup full of reserves in this game. Aldosivi are desperate for a win because a bad result here could almost send them to relegation, so I’ll take the home win as they should be more focused.
