Aldosivi vs San Martin de San Juan
Aldosivi come into this match on the back of an emotional and much-needed victory: last Sunday, they defeated Banfield 1-0 away thanks to a penalty converted by Federico Gino in the 103rd minute. It was El Tiburón’s fourth win in their last five league matches (along with just one defeat) and allowed them to reach 15 points in the Torneo Clausura, escaping the relegation zone in the aggregate table. Now, they depend on themselves: if they beat San Martín SJ, they will stay in the top division. At home, Aldosivi have won their last two matches.
Thanks to a 90th-minute goal from Tomás Lecanda, San Martín SJ earned a valuable 1-1 home draw against Lanús last weekend and kept their hopes of staying in the top flight alive. If they win and Godoy Cruz don’t, they will avoid relegation and also advance to the playoffs. Last round and it all comes down to this game for both teams: the winner will avoid relegation, the loser will go to Nacional B next season. A draw would be enough for Aldosivi to be safe, unless Godoy Cruz wins in the other game which means they would need to play a relegation playoff game. Considering only a win is enough for San Martin, I have to expect an open game here where a goal could really open things up.
