Argentinos Jrs vs Banfield
Argentinos Juniors were clearly harmed last Sunday and ended up losing 2-0 away to Instituto after two controversial penalties awarded by the referee. This was their third defeat in their last four league matches (with just one win in that span), and they remain outside the playoff zone on eight points while continuing to slip further away from Copa Libertadores qualification spots. On a positive note, Argentinos have collected seven of a possible nine points at home.
Banfield continue to improve and are now close to securing their place in the top flight. Last weekend, they defeated Independiente 1-0 away from home thanks to a first-half goal by Martín Río, earning their third victory in the last four league matches (with only one defeat). El Taladro have now reached 13 points in the Torneo Clausura, moved into the playoff zone, and extended their cushion over the relegation spots to nine points. In addition, Banfield have collected six points from a possible 12 away from home, winning two and losing two.
Argentinos Jrs has been irregular lately but one sure thing is that their stadium, where they lost only once this year, they are much better. Banfield has definitely improved but they struggle when playing away and Argentinos could be too much for them.
