Argentinos Jrs vs Estudiantes
Argentinos Juniors earned a valuable point away to Belgrano last weekend, drawing 1-1 thanks to a goal by Alan Lescano in the 47th minute. El Bicho remain second in Group A with 30 points after going five league matches unbeaten (two wins and three draws) and have, of course, already secured a playoff spot. At home, Argentinos have recorded five wins, two draws, and one loss so far in 2025.
Estudiantes continue to miss opportunities to achieve their first goal of the year. Last Monday, the team delivered a poor performance and had to settle for a goalless home draw against Tigre, extending their winless run in the league to seven matches (four draws and three losses). El Pincha are now eighth in Group A with 21 points and need at least one more to secure a playoff spot. Estudiantes have taken just one point from their last four away matches in the Torneo Apertura. Santiago Arzamendia has served his suspension and is available.
One point should be enough for Estudiantes to secure the last playoff spot of this group because they would take a 3 points distance over Newell’s and Defensa y Justicia but with a much better goal difference. Argentinos will secure the 2nd place with a draw, they might try to go for the win and maybe take the 1st from Boca but it might not be enough, so I expect both teams to play a safe game and don’t take many risks as they both would be happy with 1 point.
