Argentinos Jrs vs Tigre
Argentinos Juniors are still struggling to find their best form following the departure of their star player, Alan Lescano. They suffered a 1-0 away defeat to Rosario Central and have now gone three Clausura matches without a win (two draws and one loss). El Bicho remain top of Group B with 18 points, although they now share the lead with their most recent opponents. In the annual table, however, they dropped to fourth and out of the Copa Libertadores qualification places after being overtaken by Boca Juniors on goal difference. Nicolás Diez’s side continue to boast an impressive 28-match unbeaten home run in league competition, with 20 wins and eight draws in regular time. Tigre were unable to end their poor run of form as they suffered a 3-2 away defeat to Vélez Sarsfield in a frenetic match. It was their fourth consecutive Clausura match without a win (one draw and three losses), leaving El Matador on 12 points, just one behind the final playoff qualification spot in Group B. This situation has put coach Diego Dabove’s position under serious pressure. In the annual table, Tigre sit 21st, well clear of the relegation battle but also far from the race for qualification to the continental competitions. They have also collected just one point from the last nine available away in the Clausura. I have to back Argentinos and their amazing undefeated run at home. They are the Group B leaders and I expect them to beat this poor and irregular Tigre.
