Boca Juniors enjoyed their biggest joy of 2025 last Sunday, when they convincingly defeated archrivals River Plate 2-0 at home in a heated Superclásico, with goals from Exequiel Zeballos and Miguel Merentiel. Thanks to their third consecutive win (and fourth in their last five league matches, along with just one defeat), El Xeneize secured their spot in next year’s Copa Libertadores via the overall table and also clinched qualification for the Torneo Clausura playoffs, sitting top of Group A with 26 points. At home, Boca have recorded three wins, three draws, and one loss this semester.
Tigre took a huge step toward their goals last Sunday, defeating Estudiantes 1-0 at home in a key match thanks to a first-half goal from Elías Cabrera. El Matador extended their unbeaten run to eight league games (three wins and five draws) and climbed to fourth place in Group A with 22 points. Just a draw will be enough to secure their spot in the Torneo Clausura playoffs. In addition, Diego Dabove’s team are on the verge of qualifying for next year’s Copa Sudamericana via the aggregate table: they also will make it in case of avoiding the defeat.
Boca are coming from a massively huge win in the Superclasico, and they’ve secure a place in Copa Libertadores next year. With only 1 point they will also secure the 1st place of the group but with the high confidence they are bringing to this game I don’t think they will just settle with one point. Tigre are coming from a good semester overall, they will also play the playoffs, but I expect the hosts to take the win here.
