Central Cordoba vs Barracas Central
CA Central Córdoba earned a very valuable point last weekend, drawing 1-1 away to Newell’s Old Boys thanks to Gastón Verón’s 90th-minute goal. As a result, El Ferroviario reached six points in the Torneo Clausura and extended their cushion over the relegation zone to seven points despite winning only one of their last ten league matches (along with four draws and five defeats in that span). At home, El Ferroviario beat Defensa y Justicia 2-1 three weeks ago after going five without a win in this competition (two draws and three losses in that stretch).
Barracas Central continue their strong run. Last Sunday, they had no trouble seeing off Aldosivi 3-1 at home, moving up to nine points in the Torneo Clausura (three wins and one loss) to stay atop Group A alongside Estudiantes. The result also keeps them in one of the Copa Sudamericana qualification spots, which would be a historic milestone for the club. In fact, they have won both of their away matches so far (1-0 at Racing Club and 3-1 at Banfield).
After 4 rounds Barracas are the surprising leaders of Group A, while Central Cordoba are coming from a midweek win 1-0 at home vs Lanus in the Copa Sudamericana Round of 16. They have the return leg away in just a few days so some rotation of their starters is expected, and at these odds I have to trust the visitors.
