Central Cordoba vs Boca
CA Central Córdoba couldn’t reflect their superiority on the scoreboard last weekend, as they had to settle for a disappointing 0-0 draw against Deportivo Riestra at home. However, El Ferroviario continue to have a strong campaign: with just one loss in their last five matches (two wins and two draws), they remain inside the playoff zone in Group A with 14 points. In fact, Central are unbeaten in six consecutive matches at Estadio Madre de Ciudades, winning five and drawing one.
Boca Juniors shook off the disappointment of their Copa Libertadores elimination last Friday by delivering a strong performance to defeat Rosario Central 1-0 at home, with a goal from Milton Giménez. Fernando Gago’s team has now won four consecutive league matches, reaching 17 points, just one behind the leaders of Zone A. In fact, Boca have lost only once in their last six away matches in this competition, with three wins and two draws during that span. Rodrigo Battaglia succumbed to a muscle problem and will miss out. Alan Velasco and Tomás Belmonte remain sidelined.
Boca still has a long way to recover from the Copa Libertadores elimination, and even though they played well vs Rosario Central, they will have another tough challenge here against this strong Central Cordoba that has been solid at home lately so I can’t see them as favorites and I’ll trust the hosts to at least avoid a defeat.
