Deportivo Riestra vs Defensa y Justicia
Deportivo Riestra are living a dream at the start of the season. Last Tuesday, the team delivered an almost perfect performance, thrashing Atletico Tucuman 3-0 away from home. With that result, El Malevo accumulated seven points from the first three rounds of the Torneo Apertura, staying in the playoff zone and just two points behind Group B leaders, Independiente. Riestra are now unbeaten in five league matches (two wins and three draws) and hold an impressive 13-game unbeaten streak at home, with seven wins and six draws.
Defensa y Justicia seem to be finding their best form. Last Monday, the team put in a great effort to come from behind and secured a 2-1 home victory over CA Central Córdoba, with a brace from Gaston Togni. El Halcon have now won two consecutive matches, accumulating six points in the Torneo Apertura, keeping them within the playoff zone in Group A. Additionally, Defensa remain unbeaten in their last five away matches, with three wins and two draws during that span. Coach Pablo De Muner has the entire squad available for Sunday’s match.
Riestra has an impressive undefeated run at home but this will have to end sooner than later. Defensa comes from scoring 7 goals in the last 2 matches, and they seem to be in form to win again and stop Riestra´s run.
