Gimnasia vs River Plate

Gimnasia LP suffered a huge disappointment last Sunday when they let a major derby win slip away and had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Estudiantes at home, conceding a goal in the 93rd minute. El Lobo are winless in their last six league matches (three draws and three losses) and have picked up 13 points in as many games in the Torneo Apertura, sitting just five above the relegation zone (to be checked). On a more positive note, Gimnasia are unbeaten in their last five home games, with two wins and three draws. River Plate remain far from their best form. On Sunday, they salvaged a point against Talleres, drawing 1–1 at home thanks to a goal from Miguel Borja in the 87th minute. Despite their disappointing performances, Los Millonarios have collected 22 points in the Torneo Apertura (five wins, seven draws, and one loss), and need just one more to secure a spot in the playoffs. River have played six away matches in this competition in 2025: they’ve won one and drawn five. Paulo Díaz suffered a muscle injury and will miss Friday’s match. River continues being irregular and playing poorly, but they are already qualified to the playoffs and it’s their moment to focus in Libertadores where next week they will have a tough game at Ecuador. Gimnasia has been quite irregular as well but at home they don’t lose often. They come from a decent performance in the derby vs Estudiantes and need a good result here to keep their playoff chances alive, so I’ll trust them not to lose.

BET: Gimnasia +0.5 @ 1.93
