Godoy Cruz – Atletico Tucuman
Godoy Cruz missed the chance to break into the playoff zone last weekend, putting in a very poor performance in a 1-0 away loss to San Martín SJ in the Cuyo derby. El Tomba are now winless in seven league matches (five draws and two losses) and sit ninth in Group B with 14 points, behind Instituto on goal difference. At home, Godoy Cruz are also winless in their last seven league games, recording six draws and one loss. On Thursday, April 24, they drew 2-2 against Brazil’s Gremio FBPA in Matchday 3 of the Copa Sudamericana. Atlético Tucumán were unable to play their Matchday 14 fixture last weekend (at home against Independiente) due to heavy rain. As a result, Lucas Pusineri’s side head into this round after a 1-0 loss away to San Lorenzo two weeks ago. They remain on 10 points in the Torneo Apertura and have now edged just one point above the relegation zone in the aggregate standings, having lost six of their last eight league matches (along with one draw and one win). On top of that, Atlético have collected just one point from the last 18 available on the road. Despite being poor in the league, Godoy Cruz are doing well in Copa Sudamericana and in this competition they couldn’t win in the last 7 but they drew six of them, what keeps them alive in the playoffs race: if they win here they would take the 8th spot with one game left. Atletico are almost out of chances (they should win their last 3 games and that looks impossible with how they’ve been playing), they’ve been terrible and at these odds I have to trust the hosts.
