Godoy Cruz vs Independiente

Godoy Cruz continue to look like one of the weakest sides in the league at the moment. Their 2-0 defeat away to San Lorenzo last weekend left them second-to-last in Group B of the Torneo Clausura with eight points, just five above the relegation zone in the aggregate table, after three winless matches (two draws and one loss). On top of that, El Tomba have yet to win a home league match this semester, drawing three and losing two. In the midst of a major football crisis, Independiente showed encouraging signs in the debut of new manager Gustavo Quinteros. El Rojo battled to a 0-0 draw away to archrival Racing Club—who came in as favorites—and even had two goals disallowed. They remain winless in the Torneo Clausura, with just five points from five draws and four defeats (with one game in hand), sitting bottom of Group B and well adrift of international cup qualification in the aggregate table. Independiente are the only winless team this season but that can’t go on for much longer. They come from playing a solid derby against Racing with their new coach, and will face Godoy Cruz without their best player, Santino Andino, who is with the Argentina U20 national team and has been terrible so far this season so I’ll go with the visitors to get their first win.
