Independiente Rivadavia vs Lanus

Independiente Rivadavia secured a valuable point on the road against Argentinos Juniors (one of the league’s top teams) last Monday, managing a 0-0 draw despite being dominated throughout the match. However, La Lepra also extended its winless streak in the league to four matches (two draws, two losses). As a result, Alfredo Berti’s team remain outside the playoff zone in Group A, sitting at nine points. To make matters worse, Independiente haven’t won at home in four matches, picking up just three points out of 12 in that span.

Lanús continues to decline in performance. Last weekend, the team put on a poor display and couldn’t get past a 0-0 draw at home against Vélez Sarsfield, one of the worst teams in the Torneo Apertura. As a result, Mauricio Pellegrino’s side are now three league matches without a win or a goal (two draws and one loss), but still inside the playoff zone in Group B with eight points. Lanus have taken three out of nine possible points on the road this season, winning one and losing two.

As irregular as Independiente Rivadavia has been, I don’t see them as underdogs at home here. Lanus has been nothing special and quite irregular as well, and they won’t have midfielders Cardozo and Peña, while their starting goalkeeper Nahuel Losada has fever and won’t play.
