Independiente Rivadavia vs Union
Independiente Rivadavia is going through a difficult period. Last Sunday, the team failed to hold onto its lead and had to settle for a disappointing 1-1 draw at home against Lanús. La Lepra have now gone five league matches without a win (three draws and two losses), a negative streak that leaves them with ten points, currently outside the playoff zone. The struggles extend to their home performances, as Alfredo Berti’s team have now gone five matches without a home victory, drawing four and losing one.
Unión Santa Fe finally secured their first win of the year. In a hard-fought match but showing improvement compared to previous performances, El Tatengue defeated Gimnasia LP 1-0 at home, thanks to Lionel Verde’s goal in the 81st minute. Cristian González’s team ended a seven-game winless streak in the league (three draws and four losses), reaching five points in the Torneo Apertura, with one match still pending. On Wednesday, March 5, Union won 3-1 over second-tier club CA Colegiales in the Copa Argentina first round. However, Unión have struggled away from home, earning just one point from the last 21 available.
Both teams have struggled so far this season but this looks like a good spot for Independiente Rivadavia to end the bad streak: they’ve been decent at home and will face this Union who has been just terrible when playing away getting only 1 point in 7 matches.
