Independiente vs Instituto
Independiente let an important victory slip away last Monday when they ended up drawing 1-1 against Platense away from home after conceding a goal in the 89th minute. As a result, the team lost the chance to remain the sole leader of Group B and are now in third place with 13 points, one behind Rosario Central and San Lorenzo. El Rojo lost just one of their last nine league matches and remain unbeaten in their last 16 home games, with ten wins and six draws in that span. Santiago Hidalgo is ready to return to the team after his participation in the South American U-20 Championship.
Instituto are experiencing a decline in performance. On Monday, the team put in a weak display and suffered a tough 1-0 defeat at home against San Lorenzo, one of the leaders of Group B. With this result, Pedro Troglio’s side have now gone three league matches without a win, earning just one point from the last nine available. However, they still remain in the top eight of their group with seven points. Additionally, Instituto have gone ten games without a victory away from home (three draws and seven losses).
Every Independiente home game had at least 2 goals with them scoring 7 in those 3 matches, and I expect the same here as they have the chance to become leaders of their group against an irregular Instituto.
