Independiente vs Lanus
Independiente remain one of the weakest teams in the Torneo Clausura. Last Sunday, they failed to hold onto their lead and ended up drawing 1-1 away to Godoy Cruz. As a result, they are still winless in the competition and sit bottom of Group B with six points (from six draws, four defeats, and one match in hand). At home, El Rojo have earned just two of a possible 12 points so far. Lanús continue to uphold their high standards in the league. Last Sunday, they were the better side and defeated San Lorenzo 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Sasha Marcich and Walter Bou. With that result, El Granate extended their unbeaten run in the Torneo Clausura to four matches (three wins and one draw), reaching 20 points and virtually securing a playoff spot. They are also getting closer to the Copa Sudamericana qualification zone in the aggregate table after a poor first half of the year. Away from home, Lanús have lost only one of their last four matches in this competition, winning two and drawing one. Independiente are the only winless team after 11 rounds but they’ve improved lately since coach Gustavo Quinteros joined and they were unlucky not to get at least one triumph. Lanus has looked better lately, I don’t trust either team but I like the chance of having at least two goals considering Independiente will be desprate to win.
