Independiente vs San Lorenzo
Independiente did not produce their best performance, but a Leonardo Godoy goal secured a 1-0 away win over CA Central Córdoba and gave recently appointed manager Jadson Viera his first victory in charge. El Rojo have lost only one of their last four matches in the Torneo Clausura, winning two and drawing one. With 13 points, they have consolidated their place in the Group A playoff positions. In the overall standings, the latest victory took them into the final Copa Sudamericana qualification place. At home, however, Independiente have gone three matches without a win or a goal, drawing one and losing two. San Lorenzo took a much-needed 1-0 home win over Talleres after the departure of Néstor Gorosito, with Walter Perazzo taking charge as interim manager. Facundo Farías enjoyed an excellent debut, while Alexis Cuello scored the decisive goal in the 63rd minute. The victory ended a run of two consecutive league defeats and took El Ciclón to 10 points in the Torneo Clausura, although they remain outside the Group A playoff qualification places and five points behind the final Copa Sudamericana qualification place in the aggregate table, occupied by their next opponents Independiente. In fact, they collected just one point from the 12 available away in this tournament. Rubén Insúa will begin his third spell as the club’s manager on Sunday. San Lorenzo have no new absences ahead of their visit to Independiente. San Lorenzo played a good game to get a very needed win against Talleres last week, and today will have the debut of coach Ruben Insua, a big club idol that will be on the bench for the first time after two succesful spells before, so I expect them to at least get a draw against this very irregular and poor Independiente.
