Lanus vs Platense
Thanks to a second-half goal from Walter Bou, Lanús earned a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Independiente Rivadavia last week. It was their fourth victory in their last six league matches, alongside just one draw and one defeat. With that, they reached 13 points in Group B and moved closer to the Copa Sudamericana spots via the aggregate table. In fact, El Granate have collected seven of the last nine points at home in this competition. On Tuesday the 16th, they won 1-0 at home against Brazil’s Fluminense FC in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana quarterfinals.
Platense showed great resilience in their last match, defeating Defensa y Justicia 2-1 away despite conceding first. El Calamar have lost just one of their last six league games (two wins and three draws) and have reached nine points in the Torneo Clausura, still not enough to enter the playoff zone but they hold a game in hand. On the road, they have collected four out of nine possible points in this tournament. Leonel Picco is ready to return after recovering from injury.
Platense is not the team that won the championship a couple of months ago, but Lanus will rest most of their starters here before their trip to Brazil for the 2nd leg of Copa Sudamericana Quarterfinals, so the visitors should be able to take something from this game.
