Racing vs Aldosivi
Racing Club produced a very disappointing performance on Sunday night and suffered a deserved defeat away at River Plate. The 1-0 loss, which could have been by a wider margin, left them 13th in Group B with 12 points, above only Aldosivi and Estudiantes Río Cuarto, both in the relegation zone. La Academia have now gone three Torneo Clausura matches without a win, with one draw and two defeats. They sit 23rd in the annual table, simply waiting for a disappointing season to come to an end. Racing have also won just one of their last seven home matches, drawing two and losing four.
Aldosivi refuse to give up. Last Sunday, they showed plenty of fighting spirit to beat Belgrano 1-0 at home, thanks to a first-half goal from Andrés Vombergar. The result ended a run of three consecutive league defeats and took El Tiburón to 11 points in the Torneo Clausura, moving them off the bottom of Group B. They also closed the gap in their battle to avoid relegation, sitting four points behind Deportivo Riestra in the annual table with six points left to play for. On the negative side, Aldosivi have yet to win away in 2026, collecting just two points from the 45 available.
Aldosivi must win because a draw will very likely not be enough to avoid relegation this week, and Racing wants to end the season with at least a couple of wins after a very disappointing year so I expect an open game with both teams going for the 3 points.
