Rosario Central vs River
Rosario Central delivered one of their best performances of the semester last weekend, defeating Gimnasia LP 3-0 away from home. El Canalla remain unbeaten in the Clausura Tournament, with three victories and six draws, keeping them inside the playoff zone and also in position to qualify for the next Copa Libertadores through the aggregate table despite still having a game in hand. At home, Central have recorded one win and five draws this semester. Carlos Quintana suffered an ankle fracture and will be sidelined for several matches. Facundo Mallo will take his spot in the only expected change. River Plate delivered a very poor performance in their last league outing, suffering a disheartening 2-1 home defeat to Deportivo Riestra on Sunday. It was their second straight league loss, dropping El Millonario to third place in Group B of the Torneo Clausura with 18 points, four behind their last opponent, who sit top. Away from home, River have earned eight of a possible 15 points in this competition, with two wins, two draws, and one defeat. On Thursday, they won 1-0 over Racing Club in the Copa Argentina quarterfinals. Maximiliano Salas, sent off in the last match, is suspended for Sunday, while Sebastián Driussi remains out. Despite the midweek win in Copa Argentina, River still has a lot to do to show they’ve improved after the Copa Libertadores elimination and the unexpected defeat against Riestra. Here they will face the solid Rosario Central that are still undefeated this season and I expect them to win at home.
