San Lorenzo vs Platense
After a terrible 2024 season, San Lorenzo continue to perform beyond expectations in the newly started year. On Saturday, the team secured a valuable point with a goalless draw against Velez Sarsfield as visitors in a dull match. El Ciclon collected eight points from their first four matches in the Torneo Apertura, with two wins and two draws, without conceding a single goal. This places them within the playoff zone in Group A. At home, Miguel Russo’s team has four out of six possible points against strong opponents, defeating Talleres 1-0 and drawing 0-0 with River Plate. San Lorenzo will continue to miss Iker Muniain and Ezequiel Cerutti for at least one more match. Coach Miguel Russo will repeat the XI.
After a tough defeat against their archrivals, Platense bounced back in great fashion last Sunday, securing a 1-0 home victory over Instituto thanks to Augusto Lotti’s second-half goal. With this result, the team reached seven points in the Torneo Apertura, settling into the playoff zone in Group B. El Calamar lost just one of their last five league matches, with three wins and a draw. However, they have won only one of their last six away games, drawing two and losing three.
They are not brilliant but San Lorenzo has looked solid so far this year. They are still undefeated and after 4 rounds they didn’t even concede a goal, making it 7 matches without receiving one if we include the summer friendlies so even though Platense can be a tough rival, these odds on the hosts are worth a bet.
