Sarmiento vs Independiente Rivadavia
Sarmiento endured another disappointing night on Tuesday, as a late fightback proved insufficient in a 3-2 defeat away to Banfield. The result left El Verde without a point after two Torneo Clausura matches and marked their fifth defeat in the last six league games, with just one victory during that stretch. Sarmiento now sit 28th in the relegation average table and are ten points clear of the relegation zone in the overall standings (to be updated after Aldosivi’s match today). Independiente Rivadavia continued to underline their outstanding season on Thursday night with an authoritative 2-1 home victory over Huracán thanks to goals from Alex Arce and José Florentín. La Lepra moved onto four points in the Torneo Clausura and remain top of the overall standings, three points clear of Argentinos Juniors. They have also lost just one of their last 10 league matches (six wins and three draws). On the road, Independiente are unbeaten in their last nine domestic matches, recording five wins and four draws. It seems like Sarmiento has decided to fight to avoid relegation by playing more offensive football, as shown by their 4 goals scored and 6 conceded in their first 2 games of the season. Independiente Rivadavia continues in great form like last season, so I like the chance of having at least two goals here and I’ll take the OVER.
