Sao Paulo (Brazil) vs Talleres (Argentina)
Thanks to a 90th-minute goal by Lucca, São Paulo FC secured a valuable 1-1 home draw against Club Libertad. With that result, they clinched qualification for the Copa Libertadores round of 16, currently leading Group D with 11 points. O Tricolor then suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Mirassol, which dropped them to 13th in the Brasileirão table with 12 points from 10 rounds and ended a three-match unbeaten run across all competitions (two wins and one draw). It also snapped a nine-match home unbeaten streak, during which they had won four and drawn five. Alisson is suspended, while Lucas Moura, Igor Vinicius, and Jonathan Calleri—among others—will miss Tuesday’s match due to injury.
Talleres earned their first win of the 2025 Copa Libertadores two weeks ago, defeating Alianza Lima 2-0 at home. With that result, they reached four points and moved ahead of their rivals on goal difference, climbing to third place in Group D and keeping their hopes alive of being transferred to the Copa Sudamericana. La T ended a seven-match winless streak (two draws and five losses), but they are still without a victory in their last eight away games (five draws and three defeats).
Sao Paulo has already secured a place in the next round and very likely the 1st place of the group (only a big defeat combined with Libertad winning in the other game would make them not take it) while Talleres needs a good result to finish 3rd and go to Copa Sudamericana. A draw could be enough depending on Alianza Lima not winning at Paraguay, so I expect them to be more focused than the hosts who are struggling in the brazilian league.
